Good Society Readings

Wrestle with big ideas. On your own, or in a small circle.

An old way,  for a new age.

Almost 2,500 years ago, Socrates taught by asking questions. No lectures, no answers handed down, just people questioning each other and arguing their way toward clearer thinking. Learning meant investigating an idea, working out what you thought, then defending it against someone who disagreed.

Modern education changed this. Reading became remembering. Having an opinion became something you did for a grade.

Good Society Readings is a space to think for yourself again. You read something worth wrestling with, work out where you stand, then discuss it with a group of peers. No lecture. No right answer. Just good questions and real discussion.

It's a hard practice and that's the point. Questioning what you read, holding ideas in tension and discussing them with people who think differently than you do. Those are the skills we need for this fast paced, polarised, AI-driven world.
